Executive summary
This report explores how AI could support community-led green space advocacy—a high-impact but under-resourced area of climate resilience work. Our research surfaced five key opportunity areas where AI could add value:
- 📊 Streamlined data access: AI can integrate disparate datasets, automate assessments using satellite imagery, and surface real-time conditions to help advocates identify areas of greatest need.
- 📣 Stronger impact storytelling: AI can generate tailored, audience-specific narratives and visuals, translate technical data into plain language, and create plug-and-play materials that lighten the lift of outreach and engagement.
- 🏗️ Simplified planning support: AI can map permitting steps, identify site constraints, and visualize design options within real-world contexts to support informed decision-making.
- 💬 Centering community perspectives: AI can cluster feedback from surveys or meetings, highlight underheard viewpoints, and suggest outreach methods to meet communities where they are.
- 🧹 Maintenance & stewardship tools: AI can forecast staffing or budget needs for long-term upkeep, surface emerging maintenance trends, and benchmark operational standards across sites.
These insights point to a range of promising directions for future tools that could help communities plan, advocate, and build with greater confidence and clarity.
